Route 66: Musical Review & The Mayors Speech

Now tonight was a special night. So many special things were done for me in Pontiac and they really did pull the red carpet out. I was told that we were going to a show.
A Route 66 musical based on all the great hits that has sang praises towards The Mother Road. From Rock’n’Roll to Country’n’Western.
The show had recently closed but they whipped the whole town together to put on an encore performance for me? Me? I was extremely honored by all of this.
I arrive and get directed into my perfectly reserved parking spot! My Corvette looked amazing surrounded by the Chautauqua Park! The front row of the whole place was reserve for our party! The Mayor of Pontiac (Bob Russell) took the stage to welcome everybody and then gave me a surprise when we presented a huge speech to the audience about me! He knew everything about me! He really did his research! It was funny too!! Until he got me on stage!! I didn’t expect that but it was a pleasure!
I would like to give a huge thank you to the people who arranged all of this, the Mayor for my gifts, and especially the people who performed that night!! it was a special night for me and one I’ll always remember!!

So we were enjoying our meal in Bernardi’s II when a table next to us had a sing-o-gram by a female barbershop quartet. it was fantastic so I couldn’t miss the opportunity to get a video of these guys in front of one of the Walldog murals.
Welcome to Pontiac!!

Ep.34> Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library, Springfield IL

Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library > Springfield IL

Now I am not a huge museum fan but I am a huge fan of knowledge so I do attend museums on a regular basis, but this is a museum of the future. If all museums were like this, everyone who visits would learn a lot. Not only does this include artifacts but it also has contemporary art, original clothing, interactive story telling, and individual journeys to bring you into the world of Abe Lincoln. It was fantastic. it was like visiting Universal Studios or something.

My favorite part of this museum is the Ghosts Of The Library, presented by AT&T. It was unreal. I did not expect this at all! Easily one of the best experiences of the trip simply because of how unique it was. There was a guy who was telling us a story and that was interesting at first but then things started happening, ghosts started appearing right in front of your eyes and it was literally like ‘HOW ARE THEY DOING THIS?!?’ Well the best people to explain this amazing show say this …. >

Ghosts of the Library is a dramatic and magical special effects presentation that uses Holavision® to capture the exciting sense of discovery that scholars and curators feel as they approach a great research collection. Holavision® is a proprietary BRC Imagination Arts-owned technology that allows the storyteller to appear to control history around him. In addition, Holavision® permits the magical “fade away” or disappearance of the on-stage actor, with astonishing impact to audiences of all ages. The ghosts of Lincoln and his contemporaries momentarily appear and disappear, their transparent images drifting through the “Library.” A quill rises from a library table and begins to write in the air, in Lincoln’s handwriting.

Route 66 Hotel & Conference Centre >

Whilst in Springfield, IL I stayed in the Route 66 Hotel which was America’s first ever Holiday Inn. It has that great charm of the road Motel. There are numerous different wings named after each state Route 66 passes through. I was in the the Oklahoma wing! Right on the front. Right outside my door was a bar & restaurant which seemed to be extremely busy all of the time so it must be great. And corridors full of nostalgic Route 66 memories.

My favorite thing was the outdoor pool with a HUGE Route 66 logo painted on the bottom of it!
